Two wilayas of eastern Algeria, Constantine and Mila, were victims of forest fires causing the closure of the East-West highway and damage as much human as material, according to the local press. Since June 1st, 974 fires have started throughout the country. Part of the forests of Djebel El-Ouahch, in the wilaya (region) of Constantine, in the east of Algeria, a gigantic fire led to the closure of the East-West highway, reported the local press. According to the news site Algeria 1, another fire quickly declared in the forest Beni Afak, in the wilaya of Mila, still in the east of the country, where families were surrounded by flames. The National Forest Protection Directorate said in a recent report that from 1 June to 27 July, 974 fires broke out across the country, with an average of 17 households per day.
