The article underneath has been published in the daily newspaper Le Provençal, France, page 22, on May 18, 1977.
A Corporal of the Chilean Army was "sequestrated" for 15 minutes (terrestrial), last April 25, by an unidentified flying object (UFO), near the locality of Putre, to 2,200 kilometers in the North-East from Santiago on the Bolivian border, local newspapers reported on Monday.
The patrol consisted of 6 soldiers and a corporal engaged in routine work when less than 500 meters away, an intense light appeared and attracted the attention of a sentinel. Corporal Armando Valdes then moved away from his men towards the light and suddenly disappeared a few minutes before the UFO disappeared too.
A quarter of an hour later, he reappeared brutally alongside his men and exclaimed '' Muchachos '' before collapsing unconscious. The corporal's beard had grown as though several days had passed and the expression on his face was still marked by an unspeakable expression of surprise at something incredible and incomprehensible. Leaving the unconsciousness moments later, Corporal Valdes could not remember what had really happened, but he noticed that his watch was moving forward by 15 minutes and that it was showing on the calendar on April 30th.

Here is an interview with the correspondent in Chile of France Presse agency (AFP) commissioned by France Inter to follow the story of the alleged abduction of Corporal Valdez.

Question - Corporal Armando Valdès, at the end of 18 months, and considering the event from a quieter point of view, could you tell again and briefly your experience?
Corporal Valdès - It was an ordinary day, during which I performed the service that was incumbent on me routinely. About midnight, about thirty or forty, one of my men, who with another one, was stationed not more than thirty or forty yards from the place where we were, came running, to inform us that he was in the process of to pass something at this very moment. At first, it was thought that it was a problem with the cattle that were being guarded, or that someone from the Putre camp was approaching.
So, when I went out with almost all of my men to see what was happening, I could observe as well as all the others, a great light coming down at high speed, in front of us, on a hill from 500 to 600 meters . Logically, we thought of the light of some comet or something similar. At first glance, it seemed more like a Bangale fire, but after a few seconds, this light had been maintained and expanded rapidly, eventually losing itself behind the hill. Immediately, almost instantly - and I remember it well - I thought I would go see that light, accompanied by one of my men. What we saw next filled us with astonishment and even fright at first. Nobody, until that moment, supposed that it was a UFO or something like that. It was a light about 20 meters in diameter - which I do not remember well - oval and more resplendent in the center. It was clear that this light was produced by something ... But what? I do not know. From that moment, my men and I began to experience strange sensations, as if internally something totally invaded us. We have never known, until now, how this light had appeared, but only that it was there, as if to prevent us from passing to the first light we saw.
From that moment, my men began to lose control and be bewildered. Without knowing when or how, we found ourselves all holding each other's arms ... I think I remember that it was I who gave the order. We remained in this position long enough. Some of my men were praying or crying, if I remember correctly. We all knelt down to pray. As for me, since I was the leader of the patrol, I had to take some initiative. So I began to shout with all my strength towards this light, asking for her identification, etc. ... but knowing very well, deep down, that I would get nothing and that I was talking to nothingness. A moment later, the animals and horses that were there began to behave in a strange way in the face of this phenomenon. For example, the cattle clustered around its oldest elements, as it usually does when it is free. They all looked at the light, thus proving to me that they saw as we do the phenomenon. In addition, the dog that was with us hid behind us, moaning and looking towards the light.
All this made us believe that we were in the presence of something strange and perhaps even dangerous, since the animals, too, were afraid of the phenomenon. After a while - I can not say for how long - I gave the order to extinguish or hide the fire that we kept lit, thinking that it could be his glow that attracted the attention of the light. I also want to point out that the fire crackled abnormally. It was therefore with the intention of extinguishing the fire that we parted, moving away from each other by four or five paces, little more. So I had an idea. Now calm, and having almost forgotten this affair, I can not explain why I advanced towards the light. I knew - I think - that I would get nothing. It was something strange, like a force that pushed me to walk towards that light, six or seven steps from where my men were. From that moment, I can not remember anything. I only know what my men told me the next day. According to them, I disappeared at their sight, to reappear later at the precise place where it is supposed that I had disappeared. I was weird, I said things inconsistent, with spasms and hysterics. I remember returning to reality in the morning, I found myself sitting, not knowing how I could be in that position. At that moment I thought I had fallen asleep, but remembered what had happened. I also remember calling my men to ask them if anything really happened. Basically, I feared it was just a dream and I did not want to look ridiculous in front of them. But it was not so. My men confirmed, with details, all that had happened, and I will add that for me, until now, all this seems incredible or almost impossible to believe.
What happened next is long to tell: there were several things going on inside me. I felt great body fatigue and pain in the kidneys, as if I had made great efforts. I remember that day, in less than 2 hours, I smoked almost a pack and a half of cigarettes. I was on the verge of a nervous breakdown, which was noticed by the entire staff at Putre camp. As for my beard, everyone also noticed, it was a beard of at least 10 days, while I had shaved the day before. What is strange is that my men did not show any of these signs. They had only experienced a nervous shock and were especially worried about me. It was I who presented the nervous state the most ... how to say ... the nervous state the most exalted. Q - What do you think of this experience now, you and the members of the patrol who accompanied you?
Corporal Valdes - For me personally - since the rest of the patrol is not with me - it was something amazing and inexplicable for my understanding of these things. But I can say that that night, something happened ... What? I will never be able to explain it to myself.
Q - Are there any other details of the meeting that you remembered after, that is, in the following months?
Corporal Valdès - Actually, I tried - at least at the time - to remember something that could explain to me what had happened. But the results have been in vain. I did not remember anything else.

Corporal Valdès - Absolutely not.

THE CASE OF CAPORAL VALDES, 1977.
The article underneath has been published in the daily newspaper Le Provençal, France, page 22, on May 18, 1977.
A Corporal of the Chilean Army was "sequestrated" for 15 minutes (terrestrial), last April 25, by an unidentified flying object (UFO), near the locality of Putre, to 2,200 kilometers in the North-East from Santiago on the Bolivian border, local newspapers reported on Monday.
The patrol consisted of 6 soldiers and a corporal engaged in routine work when less than 500 meters away, an intense light appeared and attracted the attention of a sentinel. Corporal Armando Valdes then moved away from his men towards the light and suddenly disappeared a few minutes before the UFO disappeared too.
A quarter of an hour later, he reappeared brutally alongside his men and exclaimed '' Muchachos '' before collapsing unconscious. The corporal's beard had grown as though several days had passed and the expression on his face was still marked by an unspeakable expression of surprise at something incredible and incomprehensible. Question - Corporal Armando Valdès, at the end of 18 months, and considering the event from a quieter point of view, could you tell again and briefly your experience?
Corporal Valdès - It was an ordinary day, during which I performed the service that was incumbent on me routinely. About midnight, about thirty or forty, one of my men, who with another one, was stationed not more than thirty or forty yards from the place where we were, came running, to inform us that he was in the process of to pass something at this very moment. At first, it was thought that it was a problem with the cattle that were being guarded, or that someone from the Putre camp was approaching.
So, when I went out with almost all of my men to see what was happening, I could observe as well as all the others, a great light coming down at high speed, in front of us, on a hill from 500 to 600 meters . Logically, we thought of the light of some comet or something similar. At first glance, it seemed more like a Bangale fire, but after a few seconds, this light had been maintained and expanded rapidly, eventually losing itself behind the hill. Immediately, almost instantly - and I remember it well - I thought I would go see that light, accompanied by one of my men. What we saw next filled us with astonishment and even fright at first. Nobody, until that moment, supposed that it was a UFO or something like that. I do not know. From that moment, my men and I began to experience strange sensations, as if internally something totally invaded us. We have never known, until now, how this light had appeared, but only that it was there, as if to prevent us from passing to the first light we saw.
From that moment, my men began to lose control and be bewildered. Without knowing when or how, we found ourselves all holding each other's arms ... I think I remember that it was I who gave the order. We remained in this position long enough. Some of my men were praying or crying, if I remember correctly. We all knelt down to pray. As for me, since I was the leader of the patrol, I had to take some initiative. So I began to shout with all my strength towards this light, asking for her identification, etc. ... but knowing very well, deep down, that I would get nothing and that I was talking to nothingness. A moment later, the animals and horses that were there began to behave in a strange way in the face of this phenomenon. For example, the cattle clustered around its oldest elements, as it usually does when it is free. They all looked at the light, thus proving to me that they saw as we do the phenomenon. In addition, the dog that was with us hid behind us, moaning and looking towards the light.
All this made us believe that we were in the presence of something strange and perhaps even dangerous, since the animals, too, were afraid of the phenomenon. After a while - I can not say for how long - I gave the order to extinguish or hide the fire that we kept lit, thinking that it could be his glow that attracted the attention of the light. I also want to point out that the fire crackled abnormally. It was therefore with the intention of extinguishing the fire that we parted, moving away from each other by four or five paces, little more. So I had an idea. Now calm, and having almost forgotten this affair, I can not explain why I advanced towards the light. I knew - I think - that I would get nothing. It was something strange, like a force that pushed me to walk towards that light, six or seven steps from where my men were. From that moment, I can not remember anything. I only know what my men told me the next day. According to them, I disappeared at their sight, to reappear later at the precise place where it is supposed that I had disappeared. I was weird, I said things inconsistent, with spasms and hysterics. I remember returning to reality in the morning, I found myself sitting, not knowing how I could be in that position. At that moment I thought I had fallen asleep, but remembered what had happened. I also remember calling my men to ask them if anything really happened. Basically, I feared it was just a dream and I did not want to look ridiculous in front of them. But it was not so. My men confirmed, with details, all that had happened, and I will add that for me, until now, all this seems incredible or almost impossible to believe.
What happened next is long to tell: there were several things going on inside me. I felt great body fatigue and pain in the kidneys, as if I had made great efforts. I remember that day, in less than 2 hours, I smoked almost a pack and a half of cigarettes. I was on the verge of a nervous breakdown, which was noticed by the entire staff at Putre camp. As for my beard, everyone also noticed, it was a beard of at least 10 days, while I had shaved the day before. What is strange is that my men did not show any of these signs. They had only experienced a nervous shock and were especially worried about me. It was I who presented the nervous state the most ... how to say ... the nervous state the most exalted. Q - What do you think of this experience now, you and the members of the patrol who accompanied you?
Corporal Valdes - For me personally - since the rest of the patrol is not with me - it was something amazing and inexplicable for my understanding of these things. But I can say that that night, something happened ... What? I will never be able to explain it to myself.
Q - Are there any other details of the meeting that you remembered after, that is, in the following months?
Corporal Valdès - Actually, I tried - at least at the time - to remember something that could explain to me what had happened. But the results have been in vain. I did not remember anything else.
