The Betty and Barney Hill case, which took place in the United States in 1961, was the first alleged case of extraterrestrial abduction. It is also the first case where aliens of small size and gray color, or "Gray", are mentioned.
Artist Views of Barney and Betty Hill's Early Business - New Hampshire Sept. 19, 1961.
By regaining consciousness, they hear "beep-beep" without seeing anything. Then, a second time, they find themselves abruptly on the road without seeming transition, rolling in silence, stupid, like somnambulists. They are now in Ashla, and see a sign indicating Concord, 17 miles. They traveled 35 miles without being aware of it. They quickly realize that their watches are stopped, and for good. The mood in the car is calm. At dawn, the Hill reaches their home. They note from their clock that they lost 2 hours on their schedule. In addition, they experience an uncomfortable sensation, strangely viscous. They sleep both, the afternoon that follows.
When Betty wakes up, she calls her sister Janet and tells him what happened. Janet tells her to call Pease's Air Force base, and report what she saw. Despite Barney's opposition, Betty, speaking to Major Paul W. Henderson, tells him that the UFO has also been confirmed by our radar.
Subsequently, some tasks on the car reveal intense magnetization.
The course of Betty and Barney Hill on the evening of September 19, 1961:
1) They leave the restaurant in Colebrook at 8:05 pm
2) 1st observation near Lancaster (uncertain time).
3) The object passes behind Mount Cannon after continuous maneuvers.
4) Barney leaves the car, goes out on the field with binoculars, the first
beep arrives here, "2 hours of lost".
5) Possible point of U-turn.
6) Possible scene of abduction.
7) Second beeps here (not sure), begins to regain consciousness.
8) Sign says '' Concord 17 miles '', spirits completely taken back.
9) Arrives in Portsmouth at dawn.
Sequelae
Barney is worried, unable to explain the marks of wear on his shoes, as if he had been dragged hard on the floor, which hurt him tremendously.
On September 30, 1961, Betty begins to have a series of recurring nightmares, which last for several nights. She sees horrible faces with eyes like those of cats, belonging to creatures seeking to kidnap her and her husband.
On October 21, 1961, Walter Webb, investigating for NICAP, visits the couple. The first fact that emerges from his investigation is the inability to relate the 2 hours of their time, or the 55km (33 miles) of their route.
In the spring of 1962, the Hill's problems are still evident and they regularly seek medical advice to relieve them of their mental torment. From their double amnesia, they developed serious symptoms of anxiety. Their family doctor directs them to a psychiatrist (consultant for the prestigious Exeter Academy). This one diagnoses a traumatic anxiety resulting from their experience and from their amnesia, for which the only specific treatment is a competent regression by sodium amytal, pentothal or hypnosis to exceed the threshold preventing memories from reaching the conscious one.
Under hypnosis
It took the Hill years to reconstruct the train of events, with the help of a psychiatrist and the use of hypnosis. The Hill is then directed to Dr. Benjamin Simon. For him, there is no doubt that the Hill lived something that disturbed them much this night of September 19, 1961, specifically during these 2 hours they have no memory.
For the doctor, hypnosis seems to be a solution, he will propose a consultation on Saturday. All the hypnotic trance was recorded on a tape recorder.
Dr. Simon hypnotizes the Hill in turn, without making them listen to the recordings. The result is the following: their stories overlap point by point. The Hill will have described in the same way the humanoids who came to meet them. They are small, rather frail, with big heads and big almond eyes, gray complexion. The Hill accurately described the naked interior, with raw lighting, where the humanoids have penetrated for what will be the most extraordinary episode of this meeting: a medical examination.
Barney Hill - Audio tapes of recordings
Barney arrives at his office on December 14, 1963. As part of their treatment, Betty and Barney are separately following sessions (recorded over 40 hours of audio tape) of weekly hypnotic regression for 7 months.
Betty and Barney recount what their unconscious has recorded: they had undergone a complete medical examination inside an alien spacecraft to determine how much physical evolution the Terrans had 10,000 years after the cataclysm that made them mutate again. They never contradicted each other and exposed the facts, without omitting a detail. They even gave the portrait of their "kidnapper": very small, huge skull, pointed head down, eyes wide and slit on the side, mouth reduced to a line, barely visible nose.
Fuller John G. Fuller meets Simon, who is not as familiar with UFOs as the reporter. They focus on Fuller's patients. '' Barney and Betty Hill ''. The couple allowed Look magazine and Fuller magazine to review recordings and tapes of their experience with a UFO in the New Hampshire White Mountains a few years ago.
Barney Hill - Content of audio recordings :
Simon : What is your feeling now. Have you been abducted or
do not you have it?
Barney : (closed eyes, in a trance, speaking in a monotonous way): I think
I was kidnapped.
Simon : Have you been abducted?
Barney : (remaining calm): I do not want to believe that I was kidnapped.
Simon : But you are convinced that you have been ...
Barney : I said, '' I think '' because it makes it easier for me to accept
something I do not want to accept that it happened.
Simon : What's easier for you?
Barney : For me to say '' I think ''.
Simon : You mean, it would be worse to say '' I was actually removed ''?
Barney : (still flat and expressionless): It's not worse.
Simon : Easier in the other way?
Barney : I prefer the other way?
Simon : What's bothering you?
Barney : Because it's such a weird story. If other people told me that
it happened to them, I would not believe them. And I particularly hate
to be accused of something I did not do, when I know that I
did not do it ...
Simon : (interrupting Barney): What are you accused of?
Barney : ... or if you do not believe that I've done anything and know that I've
made.
Drawing under hypnosis of Barney Hill
Simon: Well, suppose you just absorbed Betty's dreams?
This is a theory that Simon takes in considering in an attempt to provide a rational explanation of the case. Simon thinks there is a possibility that Betty has transferred his vivid dreams of the incident to Barney, so that he can relive them as part of a real experience. But, having involved the acceptance of a transfer of major experience, it has remained as strange as accepting the abduction as real. When Barney was recalled to hypnosis, he relived several painful parts of the alleged kidnapping. Once, he reported feeling that the humanoids placed an instrument on his genitals, ostensibly to extract his seed. He reacted so violently that Dr. Simon had to take him out of his trance temporarily. There have been many incidents like this, recorded nowhere in Betty's dreams, that have made dream transfer theory difficult to apply as an alternative.
When Simon asks Barney if he could have simply absorbed the dreams of Betty Barney hesitantly replies since his trance state: I'd like that.
Simon: Would you like that ... Could that be true?
Barney: (answering without hesitation) No!
Simon: Why not?
Barney: (breathing heavily, opening and closing his hands, almost shouting):
Because I do not like them putting their hands on me!
Simon: All right, Barney. You do not have to be angry. Calm down !
Barney: (crying, writhing in his chair): I do not like them putting
their hands on me! I do not like it touch me!
Simon: (calmly) Ok, Barney. They do not touch you now, they do not
do not touch you. You can let that go ...
Thousands of pages have been dedicated to the Hill case worldwide, to hypnosis sessions led by Dr. Simon in which they will remember being abducted aboard a craft. Recalling the painful '' medical '' examinations conducted on them by small beings on board the object.
The narrative also contains the description of a foreign language, almost human expressions of the entities, an extraordinary feeling of trust, and not the slightest impression that the incident had a specific purpose or that it was the object of an intelligently prepared plan.
This case was the beginning of a new "religion", founded many years later by Budd Hopkins, John Mack or Whitley Strieber.
Barney Hill died on February 25, 1969 at only 47 years old.
Betty Hill - Content of audio recordings :
It was during a session of Hypnosis that Betty Hill spoke of a star map she would have seen during her experience.
Here's how under hypnosis Betty Hill recounts this moment :
A drawing of the map by Betty Hill
'' ... And then, I asked him where he came from. Because I knew he was not coming from Earth and wanted to know where. And, he asked me if I knew the geography of the Universe. All I knew was what we had been taught at school. That the sun is the center of the solar system and that there were 9 planets. But since then we have obviously made progress. I told him about Harlow Shapley: he wrote a book. And I had seen pictures he had taken, millions and millions of stars in the Universe. But I did not know much more. And, he told me he would have preferred that I know a little more: I tell him that me too. And, he went through the room, he went to the head of the table, and he did something and the metal of the wall was open. And he pulled out a map and he asked me if I had ever seen such a thing.
The map of stellar roads followed by their captors, drawn by Betty and '' interpreted '' years later by Marjorie Fish.
In December 1966, a woman teacher, Marjorie Fish, built a three-dimensional model of the stars around our sun. It was limited to its study only stars of the same type as our sun or a type close to the latter. She builds her model through beads and threads. In 1969, Mrs. Fish resumes her model with revised data and there, it becomes undeniable that a star position, can find the map of Betty Hill.
The map of Marjorie Fish.
Transcription of the map into a 3D model of the space generated by a computer.
We already find in 1954 extraterrestrial visitors from Orion.
In addition: The Hill would have undergone medical examinations by extraterrestrials which I quote: "... would be eager to know how much evolution humans had reached 10,000 years after the cataclysm that made us mutate a second time."
It is troubling to see here that 10,000 years is also the estimated date of the deluge and the engulfing of Atlantis.
Many unrelated items overlap with those visitors from the Orion Belt who have been visiting the Earth for at least 10,000 years.
Radar correlation?
In 1970, Betty Hill reported that several radar devices had spotted a UFO the night of his encounter, and that USAF pilots had chased him. She obtains copies of a USAF intelligence report on a radar incident that occurred on the date of her encounter:
0614 (Z?) OBSERVE A / C (for Air / Craft, Aircraft) UNIDENTIFIED TO COME ON PAR (for Precision Approach Radar, Precision Approach Radar at Pease Air Force Base) 4 MILES DISTANCE, A / C FIT APPROACHES AND GOES UP TO ½ MILE. LITTLE AFTER OBSERVA LOW TARGET ON WIND REAR, THEN CTC (CONTAINT) LOST RADAR. TWR (for ToWeR, Tower) WAS AWARE OF A / C WHEN IT WAS IN THE FINAL, THEN WHEN IT APPROACH LOW TWR UNABLE TO SEE ANY A / C AT ANY TIME.
Betty Hill provides copies to Massachusetts investigators conducting their own investigation. In particular the reports of David Webb (May 29, 1972) and John Oswald (January 1976) conclude that the radar track and Hill incident, despite their coincidence over time, are probably unrelated. The Oswald report, in particular, illustrates runways and approach patterns at the air base, indicating that an unidentified '' apparatus '' (perhaps a '' real '' UFO, but doing nothing 'extraordinary') was detected by radar in the landing pattern of the Pease Air Base. However, this having occurred at low altitude about 80 miles away from the "abduction" site and not being a solid radar case, a link with the Hill incident remains pure conjuncture. Moreover, Betty Hill's assertions about other reports are based solely on her memory and verbal statements of knowledge, without any documentation to support them.
Betty Hill dies on Sunday, October 17, 2004, of lung cancer.
Conclusion
The case of the Hill spouses is the first case of abduction to have been examined (but not the first case of abduction, as some people think) and for which regressive hypnosis was used so that patients would remember what took place during their missing time. Her life, Betty Hill will report her experience, no detail will change in the description of the events.
There is much in common between the story of the husband Hill and the stories of other abductees. One of these things in common, and what Budd Hopkins has been highlighting for years, is the interest of the Ets in reproduction. Indeed, Betty will have a long needle pressed into the belly at the navel, it will be said that it is a "pregnancy test" as for Barney, he will undergo a semen collection.
What makes me believe that Hill's experience is true? Exactly, all these details in common with the stories of abductees nowadays: missing time, medical examinations, including those intended for reproduction, the description of the aliens, the trauma of the Hill before they really know what it is is unrolled, etc.
And all these common details date from the early 1960s, at a time when abductions were still an unknown and unmediated topic ...
In addition, the Hill couple had no interest in making themselves known in this way. The Hill were simple people, leading a simple life. Barney was a reserved and discreet man who did not feel comfortable with this crowd. Betty, she was a little bit straighter, and although she was traumatized by this experience, she took things with humor, a good way to deal with events without sinking into depression.
