What They Told the Canadians
Wilbert B. Smith
Wilbert Smith' s Memo
In 1950 a radio engineer for the Canadian Department of Telecommunications spent some time working with the United States, primarily on projects involving geomagnetism. The engineer, Wilbert Smith, sent the following words in a memo to his boss, the controller of telecommunications of the Canadian Department of Transport. Check it out.
I made discreet inquiries through the Canadian embassy staff in Washington who were able to obtain for me the following information:
a. The matter is the most highly classified subject in the United States government, rating even higher than the H-Bomb.
b. Flying saucers exist. (Emphasis added)
c. Their modus operandi is unknown, but concentrated effort is being made by a small group headed by Doctor Vannevar Bush. (This is the MJ-12 group.)
d. The entire matter is considered by the United States authorities to be of tremendous significance.

Wilbert Smith Interview Notes
Years later Wilbert Smith' s son came across the following notes written in his father' s handwriting. They are notes of an interview Smith conducted with Dr. Robert Sarbacher. Dr. Sarbacher was a well-connected scientist in the United States who had been the dean of the graduate school at Georgia Tech and had been a consultant to the U.S. Research and Development Board. He was listed in several directories as one of the United States' leading scientists. Here are some excerpts from Smith' s interview notes with Dr. Sarbacher :
Dr. Robert Sarbacher
Smith: I am doing some work on the collapse of the earth' s magnetic field as a source of energy, and I think our work may have a bearing on flying saucers.
Sarbacher: What do you want to know?
Smith: I have read (Frank) Scully' s book on the saucers (Behind the Flying Saucers) and would like to know how much of it is true.
Sarbacher: The facts reported in the book are substantially correct. (Note: remember, Frank Scully is the guy who claims there have been at least eighteen downed saucers in the American southwest. He made these claims in his book.)
Smith: Then, the saucers do exist?
Sarbacher: Yes, they exist.
Smith: Do they operate as Scully suggests, on magnetic principles?
Sarbacher: We have not been able to duplicate their performance.
Smith: Do they come from another planet?
Sarbacher: All we know is, we didn' t make them, and it' s pretty certain they didn' t originate on earth.
Smith: I understand the whole subject of saucers is classified.
Sarbacher: Yes, it is classified two points higher even than the H-Bomb. In fact, it is the most highly classified subject in the U.S. Government at the present time.
Smith: May I ask the reason for the classification?
Sarbacher: You may ask, but I can' t tell you.

Friedman' s Confirmation
Stanton Friedman picked up the phone and called Dr. Sarbacher in December, 1983. Sarbacher confirmed to Friedman that the information he had given about flying saucers was, indeed, accurate!
Dr. Sarbacher
During additional investigation conducted by William Steinman, Sarbacher made the following points to Steinman, in writing:
'Although I had been invited to participate in several discussions associated with reported (flying saucer) recoveries, I could not personally attend the meetings.
About the only thing I remember at this time is that certain materials reported to have come from flying saucer crashes were extremely light and very tough.
I got the impression these "aliens" were constructed like certain insects we have observed on earth, wherein because of the low mass, the inertial forces involved in operation of these instruments would be quite low. '
I still do not know why the high order of classification has been given and why the denial of the existence of these devices.'
Dr. Sarbacher died in 1986.
