The Colares events in 1977, by Patrik Gross.
Colares 1977:
In late 1977 and for months, the Brazilian island of Colares and the Amazon Delta region were visited by unknown flying objects. We see them every day of all kinds, of all sizes, all shapes, saucers, cigars, cylinders, generally arriving from the North, from the sky, or even coming out of the waters. Thirty-five residents of the island are injured by rays directed at them by objects. The Air Force intervenes, also sees, films, photographs, questions, the press is there. Finally, faced with the threat, residents evacuate entire villages. You've never heard of it? Well, just read this file.
Colars events in 1977:
The events mainly focused on the city of Colares, about 2000 inhabitants, on the island of the same name, which is in the state of Pará, in the delta of the Amazon river on the northeast coast of Brazil. But the whole region was visited by the same phenomenon.
In August 1977 on the island of Colares, a strange phenomenon began to occur, which natives called Chupa-chupa. Strange light objects have appeared over a few cities in the region. These objects often projected thin rays, apparently of light, directed towards people. Those affected passed out and woke up with strange anemia. They testify that they felt as if part of their blood had been drawn by the strange rays.
For example, fisherman Manoel João de Oliveira Filho, 44, married and living at 64 Carneiro de Mendonça Street, strolled to the beach early in the morning with a few companions, before spending a day of sea fishing. Before they joined their boats, they saw - above the beach of Rio Novo - an object formed "like an umbrella" stationary about 4m from the ground. From its lowest part, a bright white light was emitted. No noise was heard from where they were standing. The object then moved away still in silence towards Machadinho, turning off its light when it started to move away.
A carpenter by the name of João Dias Costa aged 44 and a fisherman named João Da Cruz Silva aged 54, both from the city of Colares, saw "luminous spheres" and were very frightened because they were near sweep their boats.
Another man from the city of Colares, Zarcarias Dos Santos Barata, 74, saw glowing balls for two nights. The first time the object came from the direction of the county of Marajó, and quickly disappeared towards the interior of the island of Colares. On the second night another ball, blue in color, flew over the local soccer field. "She lit up all the trees around the field and then fled to the center of the city," said Sr Zacarias.
Senor Sebastião Vernek "Zizi" Miranda described his experience as follows:
"I was there with my wife, Palmira, in front of the church on the seafront, when around 8:00 p.m. we saw an intense orange light coming from the sea towards the city. 'approached, it rose, and then, moving rapidly, disappeared towards the interior part of the island. "
Hairdresser Carlos Cardoso de Paula, 49, living at number 231 of Travessa Deodora Da Fonseca, had an even closer encounter with "lights", as he reports himself :
"Everyone except me was asleep. I was having a last cigarette when suddenly a ball of fire entered our house up near the gable. It started to circle around the room and then finally came very close to my hammock. It went up the top of my right leg to my knee (without touching my skin). I watched with great curiosity as it moved to my other leg. So I started to feel weak and drowsy. My cigarette fell from my hand and I went out screaming. The fireball quickly disappeared and everyone woke up. I think she was looking for a vein in my body but failed to do so. As its brightness increased I felt a kind of warmth coming from it. "
The worker Raimundo Costa Leite, very well known in the city of Colares for his skill in repairing fishing nets, describes his own experience :
"At around 4.00 in the early morning, I went fishing with my friend" Baixinho "(Orivaldo Malaquias Pinheiro) off Cajueiro beach. I remember that" Baixinho "shouted" look! He is there "and took his legs around his neck, leaving me alone on the beach. The craft was the size and shape of a helicopter, made no noise, and flew very high. could have fired at him if I had had a gun with me. I was terrified when the machine emitted a kind of light beam down on the beach. This light swept the ground, illuminating everything! It was a bluish light (a kind of "cold light"). It was quite easy for me to see it because the craft had several small reddish lights under its front bulkhead. The craft seemed to be looking for something on the ground. was afraid he might touch me and, despite my poor physical condition I managed to run a long distance, and then "Baixinho" found me and helped me. The object came from the direction from the sea and it was heading far into the interior of the island. "
In fact, so many people have reported being attacked by light beams from small to large UFOs in this area that only a few are mentioned here.
On October 20, three women were hit on their breasts by the beams of light: "each of the three was struck with enormous nervous tension and an unknown sort of weariness" as if they were receiving constant electric shocks "wrote newspaper.
On the evening of October 29, Benedito Campos and his seventeen-year-old wife Silvia Mara were at their home when "they spotted an oval and silvery object emitting a greenish beam like a lighthouse, towards the room where they were. astonished, they approached a small window and, when they were doing that, a ray was thrown through the window and directly reached Silvia, throwing her into a sort of trance state. " Silvia, who was then pregnant, passed out, whereupon two entities apparently entered the house carrying something resembling a golden torch and "the beam struck Silvia again, this time in the left arm at wrist level His veins seemed to "lift" as if swollen from the beam hitting them. " Later, while visiting a neighbor, Benedito was also briefly paralyzed by a ray of light. Fearing the loss of the unborn baby, the husband and wife were transported by night by boat to the medical clinic of Mosqueiro, followed throughout the journey by the UFO, which made no further attempt at their harm. They stayed there for three days, where the wife was able to recover, but Benedito "was in a state of severe depression for a few days, his motor functions disrupted and, according to his mother," frequently crying. "
The activity of UFOs over the island of Colares was so intense that people began to think that the "Chupa-chupas" were trying to establish some kind of contact with them. This was the opinion expressed by Sr Raimundo Ferreira "Mimi" Monteiro. He still thinks that the devices came from the bottom of the sea or from some sort of underwater base located in the county of Marajó or perhaps in the Caldeirão region.
Alfredo Bastos Filho, a former city mayor, confirmed this and said: "Yes, indeed I can tell you that there was not a moment of peace then. The population was terrified by this affair of" Chupa -chupa ". I even managed to see in person" Mirota ", one of the women victims of the rays who was under medical treatment at the health clinic."
The locals were so frightened that many of the women and children left the city. The men who remained lit fires to stand guard at night, also setting off fireworks and beating canisters whenever they saw the approach of the Chupa-chupas. Others shut themselves up in their homes for fear of the phenomenon. It was later mentioned that the more people made noise and fireworks to keep them away, the closer these devices came to them.
Injuries and death :
In November 1977 the doctor in charge of public health on the island, Doctor Wellaide Cecim Carvalho, took care of around 35 people claiming to have been touched by the strange ray. She took blood samples, and concluded that the victims suffered from generalized hyperemia, chronic superficial headaches, burns, intense fevers, nausea, tremors in the body, stiffness, asthenia and were very small holes in the skin where they had been struck by the rays.
She wrote: "All of them had suffered injuries to the face or the thoracic region." The lesions, resembling radiation damage, "started with intense reddening of the skin in the affected area. Later the hair fell out and the skin turned black. There was no pain, only slight heat. Marks of small stings in the skin could also be noted. The victims were men and women of varying ages, unrelated to each other. "
In describing their experiences with these light beams, most of the victims stated that they were "immediately immobilized, as if a very strong weight were pushing against their chest. The beam was about seven or eight centimeters in diameter and was colored white they weren't chasing them but suddenly hitting them. When they tried to scream no sound came out, but their eyes remained open. The beam was felt as warm, "almost as hot as a cigarette burn," at barely tolerable. After a few minutes the column of light slowly retracted and disappeared. " Most symptoms usually disappear after a week.
In Agulhas Fincadas, Mrs. Maria Lopes, resident of Vila Gorete, on the edge of the Rio Tapajós, in the neighborhood of Santarém (Pará), recounts her case involving strange devices that absorb the energy of human beings, known as Chupa -Chupa. "I saw an object quietly land in the bushes here nearby ... It had attacked two men and a woman, who had started to move with two fishermen," said Maria. Other locals were paralyzed while watching the scene, and men were killed in identical circumstances. In the heart of each of the deceased there were sets of small holes like dozens of needles. "
Many were injured while trying to escape one of these strange objects. In many cases, the marks left by the spokes on the victims' skin were marks which could have up to eight small holes. In these occurrences, the name of Chupa-Chupa seemed very appropriate since they had lost up to approximately 300 ml of blood from these wounds.
This was the case for Claudomira, a resident of the island of Colares. She claims that her family was already unable to sleep normally due to the fear of these devices. "One of these days, after midnight, I woke up because of a strong flash, a sort of focused beam of bright green light that came down from the roof to my left chest. I tried to shout, but my voice did not work. I felt a pleasant warmth ... Later, this beam of light decreased and I saw that I was burned. " Claudomira said she saw a strange object, like an umbrella, from which a fair-skinned being, with "oriental" eyes and large ears came out. According to her, the creature was dressed in a tight green garment and had had a kind of pistol in the hand, which emitted the light beam. At this moment, Claudomira felt perforated as by needles on her breast. "After that, I felt a migraine and great weakness, which left me prostrate for several days." The day after the event, she had been sent to the town's health unit, where she was taken care of by Dr Wellaide Cecim Carvalho, who sent her to the Renato Chaves medical institute in Belém, for additional examinations. Her discomfort and constant migraines lasted for many days, followed by fatigue and weakness. Years later, Claudomira still does not feel completely recovered. "My health has never been the same since that night." She is not the only one to have experienced such a situation. One estimate says that thousands of people, also men, had suffered from the Chupa-Chupa attacks in the years 1970 to 1980, and these incidents still occur today, although less frequently.
"The emotional and physical after-effects are very common in these cases," said Dr. Wellaide Cecim Carvalho, who took care of Claudomira. Although she was skeptical and first believed that the Chupa-Chupa stories were popular beliefs or witchcraft, Dr. Wellaide ended up being convinced of the truth of the cases when she was confronted at their increasing frequency. "With the increase in the number of people injured, I have started to pay more attention to the existing damage. I have seen things that do not exist in my medical books," she said. According to her, the victims of Chupa-Chupa presented the strangest burns, not like those caused by fire or hot water, as one might think, but very similar to those produced by cobalt radiation. "The damage changed over time. First it started with intense stiffness in the affected area, which is called hyperemia. Later, the skin in the affected area started to fall (alopecia) and days later the skin peeled late. "In this period of development," said Wellaide, "it was possible to notice holes, similar to punctures by needles." One of the most interesting cases she cared for occurred with a lady who had heart problems. She came to the doctor’s office very nervous and immediately she showed her left breast, which had two strange holes in it. She complained of nausea, shortness of breath and weakness, characteristic symptoms already known by people struck by the phenomenon. The doctor tried to calm her down and she went back to her home. But at around 3:00 pm, however, Dr. Wellaide was called to the bedside. was a woman who fell very ill. Her whole body was still and she was having trouble breathing but she had no fever or vomiting. Seeing the seriousness of the situation, the doctor transported her to a hospital in Belém. Hours later, she received the medical papers and the death certificate from the forensic institute Renato Chaves, who stated that a heart attack was the cause of death. The intriguing fact is that at no time did the doctors at Belém only mention the damage to his body and did not even say whether they had done any supplement examinations.
Electricity :
Regarding the possible effects of UFOs on the electricity supply, Senor Geraldo Aranha de Oliveira of C.E.I.P.A. (Pará power station) explained:
"In 1977 the CEIPA substation consisted of three Scania engines of 125 kilowatts, ensuring the city's lighting from 6:00 p.m. until midnight. I don't remember having seen any UFO above from the factory. I just remember that during this period a good number of lightning rods were burnt and sometimes also fuses. "
The air forces alerted :
COMAR (Comando Aéreo regional, the regional command of the Brazilian Air Force), arrived in Belém, and is carrying out a series of searches in the region, under the name of operation "Prato" (plate, or saucer "). Captain Uyrangê Bolivar Soares Nogueira De Hollanda Lima directed all operations in the region. During the investigations, the Air Force filmed four films and took hundreds of photographs of the flying saucers in the Marajó basin They have also been of great help to the population, providing the help of psychologists, to eliminate the panic that had gripped the whole region.
The beams of light from the machines have been described as being so bright that they resemble those used to light up sports stadiums at night. They have "always been clearly defined, directed with perfect precision to all their targets - the houses, people, boats, trees, and even the Brazilian air force helicopters deployed over the island during the investigations. on one occasion it was reported that one of these powerful beams forced one of the helicopters to land, however the exact technical reason was not communicated.
According to a statement by Senor Sebastião V. Miranda, a former resident of Colares, "the Brazilian Air Force spent more than 35 days in the city, and installed various devices near the beach in Bacurí."
Senora Alba Câmara Vilhena, a married woman living at 683 rue du 15 novembre, added: "At the time of the Chupa-chupa everyone was too scared to sleep at night, and almost every evening we left to be with parents. On one occasion some saw a craft. It was round, and very bright. Just then a FAB (Brazilian Air Force) helicopter was almost flying towards our house. So we saw that the "UFO directed a very powerful ray right at the helicopter, forcing it to land on the airfield of São Pedro. This happened at around 8:00 pm one evening."
Professor Raimundo Sebastião Aranha said: "At that time I was in close contact with some of the Air Force investigations. They were looking for more information on the Chupa-chupa."
He said that the Air Force had brought masses of equipment: cars, helicopters, radio transmitters, cameras, telephoto lenses etc. He also remembers that in addition to recruits from Air Force troops, there was a whole group of officers and he felt that there was a stranger among them. The helicopters that appeared from time to time, bringing in materials and personnel, tried to hunt the UFOs but without much success. Indeed, on the contrary, it was the UFOs that chased them! "
One night several months later, on May 24, 1978, a journalist and a photographer, who had been sent to cover UFO encounters in the area, were in their cars when despite the heavy rain they were awakened "by a powerful beam of light which - as incredible as it may seem - has passed through the metal structure of the vehicle roof. " Obviously, they jumped out of the car to see "a tube-like light beam, about twenty-five centimeters in diameter, which descended on the roof of the car and passed through the metal paneling." On other occasions they have managed to take numerous photographs which they claim their newspaper later sold the negatives to "a group of North Americans."
Another night when they were trying to use their flash photo equipment one of these UFOs "emitted a beam of light so bright that it smashed the windshield" of their car.
Several newspapers have started to write that the alleged UFOs were weather balloons, or secret satellites, although there was no possible reason to believe this. Local authorities were naturally extremely angry about such articles. Elói Santos, of the bullfighting enclosure council said: "It cannot be denied that Belém is today a frightened city. We are neither technicians nor want to discuss the conclusions of the authorities. But we surprised them with statements from witnesses who saw lights pass through their roofs to penetrate their skin, draw blood and leave visible marks of stings and burns on their skin. "
Sequelae:
During the Chupa-chupa wave many new "observation sites" appeared, such as Pinheiro and São Bento in the state of Maranhão, and Viseu and Bragança in the state of Pará. Some areas have indeed reached such a "level of saturation" that it was not uncommon for a night without UFOs to be observed.
One of these "UFO epicenters" was in the north of the county of Baía Do Sol (Sun Bay) and there were direct effects on the island of Mosqueiro. Mosqueiro is one of the most important of the islands, and it is the largest of those belonging to the municipality of Belém.
The public's concern was immense, all the men coming together at night to organize surveillance, with lights and fireworks, thus thinking of keeping the craft away. But nothing seemed to stop UFO flights, not even air force people with their cameras and cameras - much less the presence of journalists from Estado Do Pará.
There were frequent and regular sightings of large craft and flying probes or saucers, all performing incredible maneuvers over the county.
One widow of 61 years, Elisa Da Silva living on Do Bacari street, was one of the witnesses of this year 1977. One night, from her house, she saw a flying saucer appear. Bright white light came from small windows or openings on the top. Seen from below, she said, it looked quite dark and quite flat. She disappeared south, in complete silence.
According to the opinion of some of the members of GUA (UFO group of Amazon) based in Belém, there exists, or it existed for a considerable time, at a certain place under Baía Do Sol a hidden base used by extraterrestrial machines. Such an idea would explain the constancy for several years of unidentified flying objects over the region.
In 1981, a woman who had been exposed to UFO rays in Colares died, but it is not clearly established that this death is clearly linked to the attack which she had suffered.
In 1986, not far from Colares, two people on Crab Island were discovered "in a state of decomposition by heat" at a time when there were numerous observations of fireballs in the sky; the cause of their death is "unknown" anyway. In the same area, at another time a "fireball" seriously burned three men who were lumbering on Crab Island; one of them died. One of the two survivors, Edmundo, had open electrical burn wounds on the side of his chest, an almost perfect reproduction of the chest burn suffered by Jack Angel in Georgia in 1974.
In 1993, in Colares, again, a 32-year-old missionary and a 40-year-old housekeeper living on the island were killed, one month apart, due to the close encounter with UFOs; according to ufologist Pratt, these women "were burned on the throat and thorax, as were most of the other people the doctor treated."
Dixit Pratt: "I know of about ten deaths which have something to do with close encounters with UFOs."
According to the US Air Force, there has never been any evidence of the reality of UFOs or any indications of UFO-related dangers. According to the skeptics ... according to the skeptics? In this case the skeptics never say anything about this kind of business. As for the general public, essentially, they have no knowledge of it.

The events mainly focused on the city of Colares, about 2000 inhabitants, on the island of the same name, which is in the state of Pará, in the delta of the Amazon river on the northeast coast of Brazil. But the whole region was visited by the same phenomenon.
