(.#565).- Researchers gathered to talk about the ET’s great silence.
Researchers have come together to talk about the “great silence” of the aliens.

A few days ago, a gathering of scientists tried to answer the following question: why do our messages intended for extraterrestrials go unanswered? Indeed, for years, men have been sending messages hoping to receive a response from another intelligent civilization, in vain.
An important gathering
On March 18, 2019, the METI International organization organized a rally in the premises of the Cité des sciences in Paris. The main theme ? Trying to understand why for years, we have not received a response to our messages in space. For Douglas Vakoch, President of METI, although this is something of which we have no certainty as to its existence, it is important to debate it.
For Florence Raulin-Cerceau, doctor of astronomy and lecturer at the National Museum of Natural History, knowing whether we are alone in the Universe is essential. In addition, if the METI organization has dedicated its existence to sending messages - via the SETI program - to a potential other intelligent civilization, other initiatives exist, such as the Breakthrough Listen program. The latter therefore failed in their attempts to contact while keeping hope.
Why no response to messages?
If the search for a civilization outside of our planet has so far never been successful, knowledge about the Universe is evolving. Indeed, let us quote the discovery of Kepler-186f announced in 2014. It is about the first exoplanet of terrestrial size located in the habitable zone of its star (Kepler-186). Theoretically, the temperature would allow the presence of water in liquid form, obviously essential for life. In this regard, Jean-Pierre Rospars - director of research at INRA - indicates that life on Earth has appeared several times independently in different groups. According to the scientist, this is a kind of rule and not an accident specific to Earth.

Furthermore, the question of cognitive level is also important. Indeed, there is nothing to suggest that Man has reached his maximum, so that there could be higher levels of evolution, and that these could have been achieved elsewhere. A potential difference in cognitive level, but also a desire of these possible civilizations to remain silent to avoid any destabilization are part of the hypotheses. It would then be possible that many civilizations could live for tens of thousands of years without meeting!
Finally comes the question of distance. Indeed, CNRS astrophysicist Nicolas Prantzos recalls that it may be impossible to contact and even less visit these civilizations, if they exist. For example, Kepler-186f is between 490 and 500 light years from our planet! Recall that the fastest human-made object is the Parker Solar Probe, traveling at 343,112 km / h (the record was set in 2018).
