Extreme heat wave in Australia. Jan. 25 2019
Heat records are sprayed in South Australia, where the thermometer was around 50 degrees Celsius yesterday, residents were receiving free beer and bats in distress were falling from trees. According to the Bureau of Meteorology, 49.5 degrees Celsius were found in Port Augusta, north of Adelaide, unheard of. In the city itself, the temperatures were 47.7 Celsius, breaking a record that dated back to 1939. It was so hot that the tires of some cars literally melted in contact with the burning road. In the Alice Springs area, the authorities have announced that they have had to slaughter more than 50 wild horses after 90 of these dead or dying animals were found near their pond without water. In addition, health authorities have asked people to avoid contact with the hundreds of heat-stressed bats that fall from trees in the parks. F I N .
