Apocalypse, disaster, threat to life and health ... Fears circulate among people waiting for the day of the lunar eclipse and bringing Mars closer to our planet. Experts in the fields of astronomy, weather and medicine have revealed what to expect during this period out of the ordinary.
On the evening of July 27, 2018, the Earthmen will be able to contemplate two extraordinary phenomena: the day of the longest lunar eclipse of the century, the Blood Moon, will also be marked by another event during which Mars will find itself at a minimal distance of the Earth, as NASA indicates.
Experts in the fields of astronomy, weather and medicine have explained whether these phenomena could have any influence on the solar system, the Earth and man.
According to Gueorgui Goncharov, principal investigator of the astronomical observatory of Poulkovo, there will be no physical impact on our planet, unlike Mars :
"There is a completely explained influence on Mars: dust storms. It's because Mars is getting pretty close to the Sun right now. Its hemispheres are oriented so that on the slopes of some of its reliefs, the dust dries and is easily moved by the wind. But the approach of Mars can not affect the Earth.
Marina Makarova, specialists of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia, is of the same opinion, rejecting the idea of a direct influence of these astronomical events on the Earth and its climate:
"The influence on the climate is indirect. Yes, these events can cause some fluctuations in the atmosphere. But in the entire atmosphere there is a wide range of all kinds of fluctuations and none can be evaluated concretely. And it would be wrong to say that today, because of the Moon, we have this or that phenomenon, like a storm, for example.
The lunar eclipse and the opposition of Mars will not affect the health of the Terrans, yet impressionable people can always find signs of a possible influence, says Alexei Vodovozov, therapist and member of the Association of Journalists scientists:
"If a person tries to find signs of the influence of these phenomena on his body, I am sure that it will succeed. It's a freedom for hypochondriacs. In reality, it will have no impact on the body.
According to Alexei Vodovozov, "It is the nature of our consciousness, we try to find immediately a cause that is at hand. And tonight we will have at hand an easy reason to explain all our ills. "
It should be noted that the eclipse of July 27, 2018 is described as the longest lunar eclipse of the 21st century, as it should last about 103 minutes.
From the European continent, it will be possible to see different phases of this phenomenon after sunset, as well as from North West Africa and South America. The best view of the eclipse will be reserved for the Indian Ocean, because it will be turned towards the Moon.
In France, the observers of the sky will be able to contemplate the second part of this eclipse. At the moment when the French will see the full moon appear, she will be already taking reddish colors. This phenomenon is also known as Red Moon or Blood Moon.
