Believing in extraterrestrials will soon replace faith in God.

According to an American professor, belief in aliens could replace religious beliefs in the near future, because more and more people are convinced of the existence of extraterrestrials as a god.
More than half of Americans believe in a God, with a slightly lower figure for those who believe in extraterrestrials. A professor, who is the author of a new book called American Cosmic, says that belief in extraterrestrials could replace religious beliefs. The book, written by Diana Pasulka, a professor at the University of North Carolina, focuses on why humans have chosen to believe in the supernatural, and how we use the gods and extraterrestrials to explain the inexplicable.
In an interview with Vox, Professor Pasulka explained how the paradigm moves from one end to the other.
She said it's because no evidence of God has been discovered in the history of humanity, while extraterrestrial life could one day be confirmed.
Professor Pasulka said, "I am a historian of Catholicism, for example, and what I discover when I interact with people in Catholic communities is that they have faith that Jesus walked on the water and that the apparitions of the Virgin Mary were true. "
"But there is something different in the story of UFOs. We have people here who are real scientists, like Ellen Stofan, NASA's former chief scientist, who are ready to go on television and make announcements like 'We will find an extraterrestrial life' ".
"She's not exactly talking about intelligent alien life, but that's not how many people interpret it."
"She says we're going to find life, living planets and things like that. This gives this type of religiosity a much more powerful force than traditional religions, which are based on faith in things that are invisible and impossible to prove. "
"But the belief that UFOs and aliens are potentially true, and can potentially be proved, makes this story a story of a unique power to people who want to believe it."
"Is it fair to call it a new form of religion? I think so."
