Washington carousel 1952.
The Washington Carrousel is one of the UFO cases that have been the subject of an official investigation and considered famous by some ufologists. It took place the night of July 19 and 26, 1952 over Washington, D.C.
Facts
The Washington sighting took place on the nights of July 19 and 26, 1952 over Washington, DC At that time, the United States faced a series of UFO sightings since April 1952. The team the Blue Book project sees testimonies pouring in from all over the country. The peak of observations takes place in July.
On July 19, 1952 in the evening, five lights are seen over the city by many locals. Air traffic controllers at Washington National Airport locate at 11:40 pm seven to ten radar echoes on their screens. However, Andrew's base radar is unable to detect these lights. On July 20, 1952, a Capital Airlines pilot taking off from the national airport reported seeing several lights between Washington D.C. and Martinburg (West Virginia). (1.)
The observations will resume on the night of 26 to 27 July and that of 2 to 3 August.
A famous photo shows the Capitol flying over a dozen bright balls, but it turns out that these lights are only the reflection on the lens of the street lights of the Capitol. However a video also shows lights moving horizontally. This video shows the same number of lights as in the photo and they are arranged in the same way in the photo and in the video. So this would show that the photo is an excerpt from the video, where the lights are located in the space and not on a window.
An elucidated case?
On 29 July, a press conference was organized at the Pentagon, in which Edward J. Ruppelt, Project Leader Blue Book, and others participated. She explained to the press that the origin of this phenomenon was a "temperature inversion" in the Washington skies caused by the conflict between a warm layer of air, caught between two layers of colder air. This would have had the effect of causing a mirage effect, reflecting radar waves and refracting light rays from the ground. Radar specialists explain that this phenomenon is at the origin of false radar echoes.
The conclusions of the Blue Book Project
• The radar observations of July 29, 1952 were explained at the press conference of Major General John A. Samford and are the result of several factors combined: inversion of temperature, collapse of humidity and atmospheric conditions curving the waves radar so that the ground targets, otherwise not visible, become visible, randomly from one radar antenna to another, giving us the illusion that these targets are moving.
• There are no photos or film of radar screen. (2.)
