(.#306).- Mutilation of cattle.
Mutilation of cattle.
Livestock mutilation is a phenomenon where animals (usually cows, sheep or horses) are found dead and mutilated in abnormal circumstances. This phenomenon is characterized by various unexplained elements such as the surgical precision of the mutilation, the complete drainage of the animal's blood, the removal of certain internal organs and the sexual organs. This phenomenon is listed in various parts of the world, particularly in the United States, since the early 1970s.
Different hypotheses have been put forward about the origin of this phenomenon: decomposition, predators (animals or cryptids), extraterrestrials, Satanist rituals or secret organisms. Livestock mutilations have been the subject of two independent federal investigations in the United States. (1.)
History
The oldest documented outbreak of animal mutilation dates back to the beginning of 1606 "... around London and the surrounding counties. Sheep killings have been reported, affecting up to 100 sheep. The corpses had lost their fat and some internal organs, but remained the carcass and the fleece. Several hypotheses have been put forward, that of fireworks being predominant. This focus has been noted in the official reports of the Court of James I of England. (2.) Charles Hoy Fort has documented several cases of animal mutilations that occurred in England in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. John Keel mentioned cases of mutilations in 1966 in the Upper Ohio River Valley, near Gallipolis, Ohio. (3.) The phenomenon remained largely unknown outside breed communities until 1967 when the Pueblo Chieftain daily newspaper in Pueblo, Colorado, published a story about a horse named "Lady" near Alamosa, Colorado who had been mysteriously killed and mutilated. History has been widely reported in the national press; it is this case which is at the origin of the first theories associating extraterrestrials and UFOs with the mutilations. (4.)
The case of "Lady"
On September 9, 1967, Agnes King and her son Harry found the corpse of their three-year-old "Lady" horse. Lady's head had been cut up and the body of the animal had incisions that Agnes King said were very precise. No trace of blood was found on the scene; on the other hand, the smell of pharmaceutical products was remarkable. (2.)
Later cases
Democratic Senator Floyd K. Haskell contacted the FBI in 1975 to investigate. He reported that 130 mutilations of cattle had occurred in Colorado alone and more so in nine other states. (5.) An FBI report in 1979 said that according to New Mexico State police investigations, the number of mutilations was estimated at 8,000 in Colorado alone, for about $ 1 million in damages. (6).
In 1993, a testimony documented by photos surfaced - it concerned the mutilation of a human being in 1988 near Guarapiranga, Brazil. An autopsy report concluded that the mutilation took place while the victim was alive and the cause of death was a heart attack. The identity of the victim has not been made public. A subsequent independent investigation, however, concluded that the cause of death was natural. (7.)
In May 2001, 200 goats were mutilated in Panggang District of Gunung Kidul Kabupaten, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. (8.)
