Bermuda Triangle : A boat reappears 90 years after her disappearance.

Havana | The Cuban Coast Guard announced this morning that it had intercepted a ship without a captain aboard the island, which is presumed to be the SS Cotopaxi, a steam tramp that went missing in December 1925 and had been very quickly linked to the legend of the Bermuda Triangle.
Cuban authorities spotted the vessel for the first time on May 16, off a prohibited military zone, west of Havana. They made numerous unsuccessful attempts to communicate with the crew and mobilized three patrol ships to intercept it.
When they joined him, they were surprised to find that the ship was in fact a 100-year-old boat registered as the Cotopaxi, a famous name associated with the legend of the Bermuda Triangle. There was no one on board and the ship appeared to be abandoned for decades, suggesting that it could well be the cargo tramp that disappeared in 1925.
An exhaustive search of the ship led to the discovery of the captain's logbook. He was, in fact, associated with the Company of Navigation Clinchfield, the owners of the SS Cotopaxi, but did not bring any clue as to what happened on board the ship over the last 90 years.
The Cuban expert, Rodolfo Cruz Salvador, believes that the captain's diary is authentic. This document contains valuable information regarding the life routine of the crew before the disappearance of the ship, but the entries suddenly stop on December 1, 1925.
On November 29, 1925, the SS Cotopaxi left Charleston, South Carolina and is en route to Havana, Cuba. The ship had a crew of 32 sailors, under the command of Captain W. J. Meyer, and was carrying a cargo of 2340 tons of coal. He was reported missing two days later and has never been seen again for the past 90 years.
The Vice President of the Council of Ministers, General Abelardo Colomé, announced that the Cuban authorities will investigate to clarify the mystery of the disappearance and reappearance of the ship.
"It's very important for us to understand what happened. Said General Colomé. "Such incidents could be really bad for our economy, so we have to make sure that this kind of disappearance does not happen again. It's time to solve the mystery of the Bermuda Triangle once and for all. "
The Bermuda Triangle is a hard-to-define region that covers the area between Miami, Puerto Rico and Bermuda, where dozens of ships and planes have disappeared under strange circumstances.
Popular culture has attributed the several disappearances to a paranormal or supernatural phenomenon, or to the activity of extraterrestrial vessels. One of the explanations goes back to the technology bequeathed by the lost city of Atlantis.
Despite the popularity of all these strange theories, most scientists do not recognize the existence of the Bermuda Triangle, and point to human errors and natural phenomena for disappearances.
The mysterious reappearance of SS Cotopaxi has, however, already generated a lot of interest within the scientific community and may well spur some experts to reconsider their positions on this topic.
