Russia - Intercontinental thermonuclear missile test - The power of Satan.
Vladimir Putin launches this year the first tests of his new thermonuclear intercontinental missile, the RS-28 Sarmat, nicknamed "Satan 2" by NATO. This is one of those famous "invincible weapons" which the Russian president boasted of owning. This missile replaces the Voevoda (the first "Satan" missile, the largest and most deadly missile of the Soviet era during the Cold War.
THE MIRVAGE PROCESS
Carries more than 10 nuclear warheads, MIRVs in English (Multiple Independent Recentry Vehicle).
Each MIRV can target a different target and has an explosive capacity of 750 kilotons. The atomic bomb of Hiroshima was about 15 kilotons.
LIQUID PROPULSION
The 1st stage engine, the PDU-99, is a liquid propellant rocket engine, a complex and delicate technology, but which allows for a variable thrust rocket engine, which can even be turned off in mid-air in case problem, then turned on again.
STRIKE EVERYWHERE ON EARTH
The Sarmat missile has enough range to circle the Earth and hit targets on the other side of the planet in less than an hour.
RS-28 SARMAT
(SS-X-30 Satan 2)
Height: 36 meters.
Speed: Mach 20.7 (25,000 km / h).
Range: More than 10,000 km.
Weight: 200 tons.
In service: 2020-21.
USA and Russia reject blame
In February 2019, President Donald Trump declared that the United States would withdraw from the Intermediate Wearing Forces (INF) Treaty, which aims to dismantle some Russian and American nuclear weapons. Trump accuses Russia of not respecting the pact.
In response, Putin blamed the United States for getting out of the treaty and said his country would do the same. He is now testing this new thermonuclear missile.
Sarmat can also carry and drop Avanguard, a hypersonic vehicle capable of carrying a nuclear warhead at 20 times the speed of sound. Such speed would make it immune to the American anti-ballistic missile system THAAD.
