The Russian Ministry of Defense has released a video showing the firing of a tactical ballistic missile from the Iskander system. The missile was launched as part of exercises on the Kapoustine Yar training range in the Astrakhan region. The military successfully fired on a target intended to be a conventional enemy.

The Iskander-M is a ground-to-ground missile with electronic equipment giving it both precision, near invulnerability to interception and the ability to change targets or follow a moving target.
Its mobile launch vehicle carries two missiles, each of which can be fired separately. In flight, the ground operator can reconfigure his targeting by adjusting it if necessary to hit moving targets such as missile launch pads, tank columns, or supply convoys. The modification of Iskander-M for export is called Iskander-E.
