At the beginning of the space age and at the time of the lunar expeditions, the inhabited modules sent to the Moon were always escorted by an extranean spacecraft (meaning: of extraterrestrial origin). Solution 2: Build a vast underground network of cities and corridors in which an elite of all cultures and spheres of activity would survive in order to perpetuate the human race.
As for the rest of humanity, it would be left to itself on the surface of the globe. We know that these facilities have been built and are ready and waiting for people to choose.
Solution 3: Exploit planetary and extraneal technology so that a small number of elected officials can leave the Earth and start settlements elsewhere in the cosmos.

Since lunar atmospheric pressure is much lower than on Earth, cosmonauts have to adapt to it using a depressurization technique similar to that of deep-sea divers. This pressure is nevertheless sufficient so that it is not necessary for them to wear a space suit. They can move to its surface and walk with just a bottle of oxygen.

In 1969, a confrontation opposed the Soviets and the Americans on the lunar base. The Soviets tried to take control of the base and took the American scientists and the staff into hostages. We managed to restore the order, but at the price of 66 dead! Following this incident, the Soviets suspended their participation in the program for a period of 2 years. There was finally reconciliation and we started working together again. "
